Olympian Elavenil Valarivan and Arjun Babuta combined well to clinch gold in the 10m air rifle mixed team event on Sunday

Indian shooting contingent continued their good run at the ongoing Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship being held here at Delhi’s Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges. On Sunday, India’s medal tally surged to 54, including 34 gold, 12 silver and eight bronze medals.
The Uzbekistan team is placed at second spot with three gold and one silver followed by Indonesia with one gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
On Sunday, Olympian Elavenil Valarivan and Arjun Babuta combined well to clinch gold in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. Indian rifle shooter also claimed gold in the junior mixed team event. The team comprised Himanshu Dhillon and Shambhavi Kshirsagar. India’s third gold came in the youth mixed team event. Hrudya Shri Kondur and Anshul Batra were members of the victorious team.
The 2016 Rio Olympian Gurpreet Singh swelled India’s gold medal tally as he won the men’s 25m standard pistol event. Harsh Gupta added silver to team tally while Amanpreet Singh bronze medal.
In the junior category, the Indian shooters repeated 1-2-3. Suraj Sharma, Mukesh Nelavalli and Tanishq Muralidhar Naidu finished in that order. Both seniors and juniors also won the team gold in their respective categories.
