Services boxer Jadumani Singh aims for good performance at Boxam Elite International in Spain 

Boxam Elite International starting February 2 in Spain will be the season’s first exposure tour for the Indian boxers.

Newly crowned 55kg men’s champion, Jadumani Singh of Services, will test his skills against top boxers in the season’s first international event—Boxam International competition starting Monday in the Spanish city of La Nucia.

The Services boxer who has moved up to be cement his place as the leading player in the Olympic weight category.

“A good showing in Spain will further add to his confidence as he has switched to 55kg this year,” national boxing coach Dharmendra Yadav said. “The 55kg weight group is very competitive at the domestic level. Jadumani has to sustain his efforts over a prolonged period of time and earn a place in the national team for Asian Games.”

The Services boxer exuded confidence after winning the 55kg national title saying he will do his best in coming weeks.

Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain will be among the leading boxers in the women’s group. Two-time world medallist Nikhat Zareen has opted out of the Spanish tour as she plans to focus on the Asian championships.

Overall 33 boxers, including 17 in the women’s section have been selected for the first international exposure tour on the basis of their performance in the just concluded senior national boxing championships held in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The selection panel of boxing federation of India shortlisted gold and silver medallists in Olympic weight categories while silver medallists of the senior nationals were selected in the non-Olympic weight group.
