The last 12 years have been very productive for India’s experienced high jumper Sarvesh Anil Kushare. On Friday night at one-day prestigious Diamond League in Monaco, it was a memorable debut for the national record holder finishing a creditable third as he cleared 2.26m.

Last month during a domestic meet in the Indian city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, he set a national record of 2.31m. At the Monaco Diamond League he made an attempt to raise the bar but wasn’t able to clear 2.28m.

He was a finalist at the 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships in Japan.

After setting a national record in Bhubaneswar, Kushare was confident that he would get financial support to further polish his skills and gain valuable experience in the build up to the Japan Asian Games. “I need sponsors to raise the bar,” he told Sportsbackstory.com after setting a new benchmark in men’s high jump in Bhubaneswar.

Kushare is of the three Indian high jumpers who will be competing at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games starting July 23 in Scotland. Tejaswin Shankar and Aadarsh Ram are other two.

Valuable Diamond League experience will certainly give him an edge when he steps on the jumping arena in Scotland.
