Neeraj Chopra said in a statement on a social media platform that ‘doctor’ has advised him to take a break due to an ankle injury sustained recently.
Defending champion and India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has been ruled out of the 20th Japan Asian Games starting September 19 in Aichi-Nagoya.
“I sustained a ligament tear in my ankle during training. After discussions with my doctor and team we have decided that I will sit out the rest of this season,” Neeraj Chopra said in a statement on a social media platform.
Olympic and World Champion, Neeraj Chopra, had recently pulled out of Zurich Diamond League. He began his season late as he was recovering from a niggle. The 28 years old star javelin thrower season’s best throw of 88.05m was recorded at the Lausanne Diamond League. He won silver at the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games held in Scotland.
“My focus now is on recovering well and coming back even stronger,” he further said in a statement
