India’s chief national men’s hockey team coach Craig Fulton’s next goal will be to win a gold medal at 20th Asian Games in Japan. The national team finished eighth in the FIH World Cup held at Wagener Hockey Stadium in Amstelveen, the Netherlands.
The winner of gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games starting September 19, will get an automatic berth for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
India was the leading Asian hockey playing nation at the FIH World Cup in the Netherlands. Given the overall performance at the FIH World Cup, India should successfully defend their title and win passage to the 2028 Olympic Games. Indian men’s hockey team won bronze at 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games followed by bronze at 2024 Paris Olympic Games in France.
Pakistan, Japan and Malaysia are other top Asian hockey playing nations and will be seen in action in Japan.
