Outstanding performance by the Indian women’s recurve team in the ongoing Archery World Cup Stage II in the Chinese city of Shanghai has given a big boost to archers confidence ahead of the Japan Asian Games.

The Indian women recurve team of Deepika Kumari, Anika Bhakat and teenager Kumkum Anil Mohod outplayed South Korea 5-1 to set up a title clash with China on Sunday.

The Indian team had earlier defeated Uzbekistan 6-2 in the first round and got the better of Vietnam 5-4 in the quarterfinals and outplayed archery powerhouse South Korea in Thursday’s semi-final encounter.

The men’s team of Tarundeep Rai, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Yashdeep Bhoge weren’t able to give their best and lost to Bangladesh 2-6 in pre quarterfinals. The Indian men’s team got a first-round bye in Shanghai.
