India’s two prominent boxers Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain lost their semifinal rounds

India’s bantamweight boxer Preeti Pawar outplays Korea’s Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aeji Im to book a place in the 54kg final of the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 on Monday. The Asian meet is being held at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
In the women’s 54 kg semifinal, Preeti Pawar beat Aeji Im 5-0. The Indian boxer will now face Chinese Taipei’s Huang Hsiao-wen in the gold medal round.
In the women’s 51kg category, Nikhat Zareen went down 0-5 to China’s Wu Yu, reigning Olympic champion in the semifinals.
Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain also suffered a 0-5 defeat at the hands of Uzbekistan’s Aziza Zokirova, a World Championships bronze medallist, in the semifinals of women’s 75kg.
Ankushita Boro bowed out in the women’s 65 kg semis as they lost 0-3 to Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen.
In the women’s 80kg category, Pooja Rani bowed out after a 0-5 loss to Kazakhstan’s Nadezhda Ryabets, a 2023 World Championships bronze medallist and an experienced campaigner.
