Talented teenage high jumper from Haryana was a comfortable winner in Trivandrum on Sunday.

India’s talented high jumper Pooja stamped her authority in women’s high jump event at the Trivandrum leg of the Indian Athletics Series on Sunday. Pooja, 19, was a comfortable winner with a height of 1.81m. She had recently set a national record of 1.93m at the Asian U20 Athletics Championships held in Hong Kong.
“My goal is to win a medal at the upcoming 2026 World U20 Athletics Championships to be held at Hayward Field in Eugene, USA from August 5 to 9,” Pooja told Sportsbackstory.com.
The competition in Trivandrum was the last chance for U20 athletes to showcase their potential and earn qualification for the World U20.
The senior men’s long jump was more exciting in Trivandrum as David P of NCOE Bengaluru surged ahead of Shahnavaz Khan from Uttar Pradesh. David’s winning jump was 8.22m while Shahnavaz’s best jump on Sunday was 8.17m. Jithin Arjunan representing JSW was third with a distance of 8.12m.
In the women’s 400m, Rashdeep Kaur of JSW clocked 53.32 seconds to win first place in the women’s 400m race. Rashdeep Kaur has been shortlisted for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games team. She will compete in the mixed 4x400m relay.
