Neeraj Chopra took a break post 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships due to rehabilitation. Doha Diamond League will be his first competition this season.

India’s two-time Olympic Games medallist in men’s javelin throw, Neeraj Chopra, is expected to join several Olympic and world champions to showcase their potential during one-day rescheduled Doha Diamond League on June 19.
Doha Diamond League is generally conducted in May but was rescheduled due to the Iran-Israel war.
Neeraj Chopra, 28, finished a disappointing eighth at the 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships in Japan. The World and Olympic champion delayed his 2026 season due to extensive rehabilitation due to groin niggle.
At the 2025 Doha Diamond League, Neeraj Chopra broke the 90m barrier on May 16. His second-place finish at Doha was 90.23m. He improved his own national record of 89.94m. However, as the season progressed, the star Indian javelin thrower wasn’t able to repeat his personal best. He finished outside medal bracket at 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships in Japan
The World and Olympic Champion has an impressive track record since he rose to prominence at the 2016 World U20 Athletics Championships in Poland. In Poland he set a World U20 record of 86.48m. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games held in 2021 in Japan he became the first Indian athlete to win an Olympic Games title. The Indian thrower has been the most consistent javelin thrower at the global level and was successful in adding several trophies to his cabinet.
His comeback will be exciting on June 19 at Doha Diamond League!
