On his comeback trail after a long hiatus, two-time Olympic and World medallist Neeraj Chopra’s best throw on Friday evening in Doha was 85.69m throw.

Two-time Olympic and World medallist Neeraj Chopra opened his season with a modest throw of 85.69m on Friday evening at one-day prestigious Diamond League in Doha. The 28 years old star Indian javelin thrower finished 4th in a strong field, including Sri Lankan Rumesh Pathirage and Andreson Peters.
Neeraj Chopra started his campaign in Doha with no mark but gradually progressed to fourth place finish.
His best throw at Doha’s floodlit stadium on Friday evening was 85.69m. He has also achieved the Glasgow Commonwealth Games qualification mark of 82.61m, a selection criteria set by AFI (Athletics Federation of India).
Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh are other two javelin throwers selected by the AFI in the national athletics squad.
At the 2025 Doha Diamond League, the Indian thrower finished second with a personal best of 90.23m, to better his own national record of 89.94m.
Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Pathirage who is world leader in men’s javelin throw this season with a personal best and national record of 92.62m, was winner of Doha leg of Diamond League on Friday. His best throw was 88.68m. Two-time World champion Anderson Peters finished second (86.38m). While Curtis Thompson was third with a throw of 85.99m.
