According to a press release, India’s sporting icons launched Indian School of Coaching Excellence (ISCE) on Thursday with an aim to further improve India’s sports ecosystem.
“To create the next generation of sports heroes in India, it is extremely important that our coaches have access to world-class education,” says Olympic champion in men’s javelin throw.
The vision of creating world-class coaches, ISCE will offer multidisciplinary coach development programmes, including technical training. The ISCE will work closely with government agencies including SAI (Sports Authority of India) and National Sports Federations.
While Pullela Gopichand says the future of Indian sport will be defined by the ecosystem we build. “Coaches are at the heart of that ecosystem. ISCE is our effort to create a platform that combines global best practices with Indian experience,” says Pullela Gopichand.
