ISSF World Championship in Doha didn’t go on expected lines for India’s 10m air pistol shooters—Manu Bhaker and Suruchi Inder Singh

India’s two-star pistol shooters—Manu Bhaker and Suruchi Inder Singh—weren’t able to showcase their potential at the ongoing ISSF World Championships in Doha. In the women’s 10m air pistol final on Thursday, Manu and Suruchi finished fifth and sixth, respectively. The World Championship in Doha is the first 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualification event. Medal winners in each of the Olympic disciplines earn a quota place. The quota place is for the country and not for an individual.
Manu shot 583/600 to finish third in qualification. Suruchi scored 580/600 to earn eighth spot in a strong field of 93 shooters. Suruchi was the last shooter to make the cut for the medal round. Sainyam, third Indian shooter in fray shot 575/600 to finish down the ladder.
In the medal round, Manu and Suruchi weren’t steady in shooting. After the second round of five-shot series both Manu and Suruchi lost their grip on the medals and were eliminated early.
