India’s Lovlina Borgohain clinched the gold medal in the women’s 75kg category at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 in Japan. It was a perfect birthday gift for the Asian Games champion. The Asian Games win will certainly give a big boost to her confidence ahead of 2027 season.
Lovlina scored a 5-0 win over China’s Bao Ziyi, the reigning 2026 Asian Championships gold medallist, to cap her Asian Games campaign in style. At the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, Lovlina had won silver. The Assam boxer is the third Indian women boxer to win gold at the Asian Games. Parveen Hooda won gold in women’s 65kg. While Marykom had won gold at the 2014 Asian Games.
On her way to the final, the Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist defeated South Korea’s Seong Suyeon in the quarterfinals and beat Kazakhstan’s reigning World Champion Natalya Bogdanova 3-2 in the semis.
