Australian Tour will give good opportunity to young players, says Indian women hockey team skipper Salima Tete

The Indian Women’s Hockey Team will tour Australia from May 21 to June 3 as a crucial preparatory phase for the upcoming FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup in Auckland.

The Indian women’s hockey team skipper Salima Tete exuded confidence ahead of Australian tour to prepare for upcoming international tournaments, including World Cup and Asian Games.

The national team is currently based out of Bengaluru’s Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Karnataka. The Indian Women’s Hockey Team will tour Australia from 21 May to 3 June as a crucial preparatory phase for the upcoming FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup in Auckland, New Zealand. The team is scheduled to play four matches against Australia at the Perth Hockey Stadium between 26 May and 30 May.

“The Australian team is a really strong opponent, which will ensure high-quality contests. We will make sure that we play our best hockey,” says the Indian skipper.

In a press conference facilitated by Sports Authority of India, Salima Tete says young players will get a chance to learn and grow during international exposure tour Down Under. “Young players in the team are getting opportunities, and they are doing really well. We need to keep backing them to ensure they continue to perform,” says Salima Tete.

Every individual needs to work on their strengths and weaknesses says the Indian skipper to perform well as a team. “Of course, there is pressure, but we are well prepared to handle it,” she says.
