Indian U18 women hockey team won the match, Australia series

The Indian U18 women’s hockey team beat Australia 4-1 in the fourth and final match of the series at Bhopal’s SAI (Sports Authority of India) Centre in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Australia lost the last match, but won the four-match series 3-1.

The four-match series against the Australian team was part of preparation for the U18 Asia Cup beginning later this month in Japan.

In the final match on Wednesday, Australia took the lead in the first quarter through Aurora Kovacevich (8’), but Indian levelled the score through Sweety Kujur (13’).

Diya (25’) increased the lead to 2-1 before the first half.

India dominated the next two quarters and scored goals through Priyanka Minz (44’) and Nausheen Naz (50’) to increase the margin of win to 4-1.

In the men’s U18 group, India finished the series with one win and played two matches draw and lost one match.
