2026 FIH World Cup: Indian men’s hockey team at No 8 in mid-season global ranking, Belgium is No 1

After an exciting FIH Hockey Pro League and Nations Cups tournaments—the global governing body in hockey announced world ranking.

The Indian men’s hockey team fought tooth and nail for each and every point in the 2025-2026 FIH Hockey Pro League. The overall performance of the Indian men’s hockey team enabled them to earn Number 8 spot in the global ranking announced mid-season by FIH. The Belgium men’s team is currently at the top of the field with 3738 points. The Indian team collected 3134 points.

Belgium, winner of the 2025-2026 FIH Hockey Pro League title has also got an automatic 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games berth.

The Netherlands is second spot with 3513 points followed closely by England with 3500 points.

Australia, a non-European nation, is at fourth position with 3395 points. Germany, the fourth European country in the top five, had 3306 points.

Spain with 3197 points has moved up to sixth place. Argentina with 3165 points is at seventh place and India with 3134 points is at eighth position.

Pakistan, having a good track record in the past but has been struggling lately to make an impression at the global level. Despite not so encouraging performance in FIH Pro League, the Asian hockey playing nation managed to earn 12th spot with 2439 points.
