Asian Games Trials: Paris Olympic bronze medallist Sarabjot Singh topped the chart in the men’s 10m air pistol

In the updated national rankings, Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve leads the men’s 10m air pistol standings while Suruchi continues to hold the No 1 spot in the women’s event.

Paris Olympic bronze medallist Sarabjot Singh topped the chart in the men’s 10m air pistol event during the national selection trials for Asian Games at Trishul Shooting Range in Dehradun on Tuesday.

Sarabjot shot 245.9 in the final to claim top honours in the men’s 10m air pistol. Army marksman Ajendra Singh Chauhan was second with a score of 245.1. World champion Samrat Rana was third with a score of 221.5.

Haryana’s Kamaljeet Choudhary finished fourth with 201.8. Olympian and Asian Games champion Saurabh Chaudhary topped the qualification round (583-21x), but finished fifth in the final with a score of 179.7 points.  

Punjab’s Udhayveer Sidhu was sixth with 157.4 and Rajasthan’s Omprakash Mitharval seventh with a final score of 136.0. Army shooter Parmod was eighth with 116.3.

Samrat Rana and Sarabjot Singh qualified for the final at third and fourth positions, respectively with scores of 582-27x and 582-21x.

The women’s 10m air pistol was more exciting. Army shooter Lakshita held her nerves to edge Haryana’s Surbhi Rao by just 0.2 points to win the final with a score of 240.0. Lakshita had finished eighth in the qualification (573-19x), and was the last shooter to make the cut for the final.

Surbhi finished second with a score of 239.8 points. Uttar Pradesh’s Mansi Anand claimed third spot with 220.2. Manu Bhaker was sixth with a score of 157.1 respectively. Earlier, Manu Bhaker had led qualification with 579-20x.

ISSF Munich World Cup gold medallist Suruchi and Palak did not start the final despite qualifying.

In the updated national rankings, Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve leads the men’s 10m air pistol standings ahead of Gaurav Kumar and Kamaljeet Choudhary, while Suruchi continues to hold the No. 1 spot in the women’s event ahead of Sainyam and Esha Singh.
