Asian Games Trials: Seasoned shooter Rahi Sarnobat wins women’s 25m pistol event, moves to third spot in national ranking

World record holder Esha Singh retained the top position in women’s 25m pistol despite skipping national selection trials on Monday. She had recently won gold at Munich World Cup in Germany.

Asian Games champion Rahi Sarnobat dominated women’s 25m pistol national selection trials 4 in progress at the Trishul Shooting Range in Dehradun.

Rahi’s final score of 37 points earned her top position in the women’s 25m pistol event on Monday. With Monday’s performance Rahi moves to third spot in the national ranking.

Paris Olympic bronze medallist Manu Bhaker settled for silver with 35 hits, while Karnataka’s Divya TS claimed third place with 29 hits.

Tamil Nadu’s Niveditha V Nair finished fourth with 24 hits. Olympian Rhythm Sangwan was fifth with 22 hits. Punjab’s Arshdeep Kaur finished sixth with 18 hits. Maharashtra’s Abhidnya Ashok Patil took seventh place with 13 hits.

Madhya Pradesh’s Chinki Yadav topped qualification with a score of 586 but finished eighth with nine hits.

Earlier in qualification, Manu Bhaker finished second with 584 and Arshdeep Kaur and Rahi Sarnobat were third and fourth respectively with scores of 579 and 579.

Niveditha V. Nair qualified fifth with 579. Rhythm Sangwan and Divya TS, both shot an identical score of 578 but the former was placed ahead on countback. Abhidnya Patil secured the final qualifying berth with 576.

World record holder Esha Singh is ranked No 1 in the national ranking in women’s 25m pistol event. She had recently won gold at ISSF Munich World Cup 2026.

Manu is ranked second. Rahi moved up to third in the standings. Divya is ranked fourth. Rhythm is fifth in national ranking in women’s 25m pistol event. Chinki Yadav climbed from ninth to sixth after her qualification performance in Dehradun on Monday.

The national selection trials 4 in rifle and pistol is important as top shooters will be selected for the Asian Games squad. Top 15 men and 15 women shooters will represent India in 28 shooting events in Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games starting September.
