In a high quality field the Indian rifle shooter finished a creditable second in the qualification round with a score of 633.4 points in the men’s 10m air rifle at ISSF World Cup in China.

India’s Junior World Champion Parth Rakesh Mane missed out podium in the men’s 10m air rifle after a creditable second place in the qualification round in the ISSF World Cup in rifle/pistol/shotgun in the Chinese City of Hangzhou.

Mane shot 633.4 in the qualification to finish second behind China’s Sheng Lihao who shot 637.5. However, in the eight-shooter final, Mane failed to sustain his efforts in the medal round.

Chinese shooters dominated the 10m air rifle with Lihao winning gold with a score of 253.9 while compatriot Zhang Changhong won silver with a score of 252.4. Sweden’s Victor Lindgren took home bronze with 229.9.

Tushar Shahu Mane and Himanshu Dhillon finished 12^th and 22^nd in the field of strong 88 shooters.

Indian pistol shooters also failed to impress in the mixed 10m air pistol team event. The pair of Suruchi Inder Singh and Kedarling B Uchavanve finished ninth. The second Indian team of Sainyam and Kamaljeet finished 11^th in the field of 44 teams.

Indian skeet shooters—Areeba Khan and Ganemat Sekhon will have to work extra hard to catch up to their rivals to earn a place in the final after not so encouraging first qualification round of 75 shots. Areeba shot 68 and was at 20^th spot. Ganemat’s score was 67 and she was placed 22^nd.
